Compliance with the highest environmental standards

It is the specificity of the project Duba Stonska in spatial planning terms to entirely fit into the landscape, and in terms of content to achieve high environmental standards, thus launching a new category of tourism in this area, eco-tourism. Regulated by strict standards of the European Union, it requires an appreciation of authentic features, starting from planning, design, construction, material selection, through the content offered in the tourist complex and the supply of local wines, shellfish and food products.

Accordingly, high-quality tourist facilities in Duba Stonska will fit into the existing structure of the natural landscape, taking into account the landscape of the area, preserving tradition, natural beauty of the Pelješac and its spirit and atmosphere. The planned urban and architectural solutions provide traditional construction modeled according to the architecture of Dubrovnik and the Mediterranean settlements, and to the greatest extent possible, respect the terrain configuration, the local architectural heritage and landscaping with indigenous Mediterranean vegetation.

The northeast of Pelješac with all its bays, sea and seabed makes a special marine reservation. Hotels and resorts are planned in places distant from the coast. The sea however presents the ambient value for tourism and is only used in creating the atmosphere of the whole resort project, but not as its focal point.

A significant advantage of the project is creating the overlapping of strategic interests of the population of Ston, which nurtures indigenous values, dealing with shellfish, fishing and agriculture, with the interest of investor whose wish is to preserve and strengthen the original values of the region as an integral part of the offer and uniqueness of the project. Without preserving the original values, especially one of the strongest national brands - Mali Ston oysters and premium wines of the type “Plavac Mali” - this project would not have a purpose and would not be achievable. Therefore, we are aimed towards further development and preservation of tradition shellfish farming, winemaking and vine growing in this area, considering them special attraction in the planned tourist offer and they are the best way of reflecting the tradition of Ston region. To achieve this, the entire coastal belt and sea of Mali Ston, protected as a special reservation, should be planned in accordance with the recommendations of experts using the infrastructure and architectural solutions that permanently protect the sea and coast as the most valuable natural and economic resource.
